Achieving food and nutrition security requires an urgent and inclusive approach. Everyone deserves fair access to resources and services promoting optimal nutritional health. This approach should prioritize women-led households and rural communities, focusing on equity.
Equity is about fairness. It goes beyond outcomes, ensuring everyone has equal opportunities to achieve a healthy life. Unequal access to healthy diets, environments, and care stems from deeper inequalities in our systems and structures. These systems determine opportunities and barriers to good nutrition and a healthy life.
Operation Hunger has long championed inclusive nutrition outcomes. We pioneered lobbying for investment in marginalized communities since 1978, providing diets, services, and practices alongside maternal and child health services affected by undernourishment.
Our approach focuses on systems. We analyze the nutritional situation of a population, considering factors like causes, drivers, and potential impacts. This comprehensive approach aims to address hunger and malnutrition in all its forms sustainably.
